Board Members

The GBS Model UN team has a dedicated group of fourteen board members.

Sophia Kendall: Co-President:

My name is Sophia Kendall and I’m ecstatic to be one of your co-presidents for the 2021-22 school year. It feels amazing being back in person and working with all of you. Model UN has developed my confidence in public speaking and provided me with invaluable life skills. There is a bit of a learning curve, so stick with it! In addition to Glenbrook South Model UN, I am also involved in a few international Model UN organizations, such as Women in Model UN and MUNtorship. At Glenbrook South, I am on the Varsity Poms dance team, founded WE Club, sing in the choir, and participate in both the Glenbrook musical and Variety show. I engage in community service events with various clubs and outside organizations as well. I can’t wait to get to know each and every one of you and see what we accomplish this year!

Sarah Ordway: Co-President

Hey everyone! My name is Sarah Ordway, and I am beyond excited to be one of the co-presidents of Model United Nations this year! Model UN is a great opportunity to authentically interact with global affairs, and getting involved has helped me confirm my passion for economics and political science. When I’m not doing Model UN, I also play on the school’s Academic Bowl team and write for the Oracle, our newspaper, in the Opinion’s section. I’m also involved in Key Club and the PE leaders program, and I’m incredibly excited to be having a talented team back in person this year!

Saanya Shah: Publicity Co-Director:

Saanya is beyond excited to start her senior year at South and her second year as publicity director on the Model UN board. She enjoys Model UN for the resilience, friendships, and skill-building she’s developed throughout her experience. Outside of Model UN, Saanya is involved in Interact, UNICEF, Tennis, Track, and Student Council.

Evie Tsonis: Publicity Co-director

Hi, I’m Evie Tsonis and I’m a senior. I’ve been involved in Model U.N. since my freshman year and am currently one of the publicity chairs. I’m also involved in Med Chapter Club, Onward House, and play soccer. I’m really grateful to be a part of such a supportive and hardworking team

Jaden Welch-Jani: Co-Writing and Research coach

Jaden is very excited to serve as a Director of Writing and Research for Model UN this year. He loved his first two years in MUN and hopes to help newer members have the same great experience with the club! Jaden participates in a variety of clubs at GBS, is a TLC tutor, and enjoys playing basketball in his free time. He is looking forward to a great year of community and competition!

Hannah Lee: Co-Writing and Research coach

This is junior Hannah Lee’s third year in Model UN, where she serves as one of the Writing and Research Directors for the 2021-22 school year MUN board. She is looking forward to another MUN season of bus rides, parliamentary procedure, and perfecting her high heel walk. Outside of MUN, she’s involved as a violinist in the school’s orchestra and a Congress debater; outside of school, her interests include reading Ottessa Moshfegh novels, binge-watching Criminal Minds, and a good 0.7mm Pilot G-2 pen.

Sneha Augustine: Technology Director

Sneha is beyond excited to be a part of MUN during her senior year and serves as the director of technology this year! Sneha joined MUN at the start of her sophomore year to help boost her confidence and public speaking skills, and now loves to go to conferences and meet new people! Outside of Model UN, she is the co-captain of Bhangra Beatz, a Peer Group Leader, illustrator for “The Oracle”, and is a board member for Student2Student, Lumos, and Desi Club. Sneha looks forward to going to in-person conferences this year and helping freshman find their love for MUN!

Minjae Lee: Co-Speaking Coach

Part-time 3blue1brown fan and part-time Jacob Collier fanatic, Minjae Lee has little subtlety about his passions or his many (many) areas of interest. Prolific with his words as he is with his commitment to a minimalist (read: bad) sense of fashion, he’s one of two Directors of Speaking Activities this year, having partaken in MUN for his third year. He’s on the Etruscan yearbook staff, has worked with the Chinese Club, participates in speech, pretends to be knowledgeable during Scholastic Bowl meetings, and can be often found wearing various things as hats. Catch him ignoring his AP Lit readings or maniacally ranting about music theory to anyone who will listen, and dare to lose an afternoon listening to his oddly specific rants about capitalism. (He had to reference his own Common App to write this description.)

Luka Heidari: Co-Speaking Coach

Luka Heidari is a senior at Glenbrook South. Besides being the co-Director of Speaking, he is also President of the Congressional Debate team, and a leader for Unidos, SOAR, Chicano College Bowl, and Elpida. Outside of school, Luka is really drawn towards internationalism and traveling—he’s aiming to hit all 6 major continents by the time he’s 20! Luka is most excited to go back to community building at in-person MUN events, for its the reason he decided to join as an underclassman

Andy Ko: Crisis Co-Director

Andy is the Co-Crisis Director. He likes to play music and sports in his free time. He is involved in many extracurricular activities in the school. Andy likes Model UN because of all the interactions and the opportunities that he gets during the meetings and the conferences. He is looking forward the most to multi-day conferences but just all the meetings in general.

Colin Goldberg: Crisis Co-Director

Colin Goldberg is apart of many clubs at GBS. He spends his time in debate bags club and German club. Also, he works at Lou Malnattis and he loves watching sports.

Milan Chander: Co-Fundraising Chair

Bella Derosa: Co-Fundraising Chair

In her fourth and final year of Model UN, Bella DeRosa is more than delighted to act as a Co-Fundraising Director for the 2021-2022 GBSMUN team. Outside of MUN, Bella is proud to be a part of the Interact, Key Club, and Congressional Debate Boards while also being a cheerleader, TLC Tutoring, serving as a Peer Group Leader, singing in the Variety Show, and working two jobs. Despite all of her other activities, Model UN has been one of the main highlights of her high school experience due to it teaching her valuable lessons about international relations, public speaking, and teamwork. Bella cannot wait to raise the fun(ds) this school year!!
